With A Short History of Video Installations, the WRO Art Center launches a series of exhibitions marking the 50th birthday of electronic art. Each show in the series, which is planned for 2012/2013, will present various stages and forms in the development of electronic media art since the early 1960s.

The starring role is taken by video, which – by creating new means of communication – became much more than an appealing tool for avant-garde artists. With its unprecedented convenience and directness, video incited revolutionary changes in the function of the image throughout contemporary culture, which discovered and recorded new directions for itself through its use of the medium.
